Greetings to riddlers of all shapes and sizes.
A year in the making, the HTPO team is proud to
present to you the much anticipated sequel to RP2: Evolution
The go live date will be September 5th, at 2pm GMT.
All players are welcome, but don't fall victim to overconfidence,
for the first few rounds are merely a warmup to the insanity that
awaits in the final rounds.
Feel free to post any questions here as we wrap up playtesting
and contest formatting. See you all at www.hadtoplayon.com on Sept. 5th!

Sorry, too elitist for me.
I'll stick to my puzzletome.
What I think is, that by amalgamating into superteams to conquer contests quickly, you've started a puzzling cold war that has escalated into contests so mentally destructive you need a superteam to solve them.

I'm assuming you're assumption that the riddles are too hard is based on the fact that puzzle 1 is hard to crack. I think they misjudged this one. Although the method is (really) easy, it's also (really) easy to overlook the meaning of the result... _________________ Currently working on BrainBreakers VI |

I disagree with you theandygrant, this contest is no more elitist than puzzletome. The teams are, if anything, smaller, as so many people were involved in creating the contest. Judging by the speccing and hinting in the forum, if anything this contest will be less elitist. Its like a long distance cycle race - get started as soon as possible to give yourself a chance and stick with the pack if you have to - there will be months and months before you need to break away. You may even get hints from the leaders (depending on who they are). |

Unfortunately, if you make your first puzzle too hard/obscure/clever for its own good, then it doesn't matter how good the rest of your puzzles are. If only 0.5% of the people that start the contest get past the first puzzle then you've lost a *lot* of your patronage right there. Those that do get past it eventually will be disconcerted about the rest of the contest. It takes a while to get the good will back.
We found all this out on Puzzletome 1. Even though the method for Puzzletome 1 is very straightforward, there are still over 300 people that never got past it. That's a lot of people to lose because we thought we'd try to be clever. Hence why the opening puzzle for PT2 was so much easier!

PS This isn't a criticism of Evolution as such - yes, I'm stuck (along with many others) but I'm obviously not trying hard enough. Just sharing a bit of experience. _________________ Puzzletome - Confusion now hath made his masterpiece! |

Point well taken, we thought about it, and because all 5 of us that playtested this found it easy we thought it would be considered easy. Just like I'm sure some riddles on PT fall into --> supposed to be easy but tricky all the same.
For all of those stuck on riddle 1, I applaud those who keep on trying. _________________ Growing old is INEVITABLE. Growing up is OPTIONAL |
