Teaser Puzzle #2 closes in a little over an hour...but there's still plenty of time for answers to be submitted!

Teaser #3 appears below. Again, a 36-hour time limit is in place. Although it has not been needed yet, I will acknowledge (but not score) entries after the first one that does not fit on the grid, even with the intended twist on the rules. As per the grids for Teaser #1 and Teaser #2, I do have another rule modification for name entry when needed.

As per previous Absolutely Scrabulous Teaser puzzles, PM me with your answer.

Title: New Scrabble Game Row

Rows are erupting over the proposed new Scrabble board:

Not only is the layout different (and more tightly packed), but certain rule changes allow non-contiguous words such as the following example during a demo game:

Can you resolve the rows and suggest some possible course of action for the new game?

Absolutely Scrabulous Teaser Puzzle 3 Solvers

1. holloweenie - 114
2. breezycollie - 40
3. The Hirsute One - 76
4. robin - 24
5. bethfay - 40
6. s10eke - 84
7. kloontjeleo - 54
8. SuperGrover - 54
9. DollyLama - 21
10. lotjegetikt - 60
11. angiejla - 64
(I can't fit any more on the board from here, but additional solvers follow)
12. therealpadd
13. katesmom1988
14. teacher611

The twist in the grid design for this game is that you can take one right angle (90 degree turn) in word formation. The objective, when making this turn, is to minimize the number of letters in the 'turning' portion of the word that does not cross an already existing word, then to maximize score.

I am out of town for a few days (just prior to the launch of the contest), so my updates to the forum and PMs might not be as diligent as they have been over the last week. Rest assured I am still maintaining the Teaser responses (handled by PM responses) and the scoring, which will be updated soon.

Also, the Scrabble grid may be able to be udpated during my absence, but if not, I will publish the final results here in the forum when I return.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the Absolutely Scrabulous contest. I certainly had fun writing these Teasers and the contest, and I look forward to being on this side of the contest this time!

Any comments (positive or negative) on the Teaser puzzles can be posted here on the forum (or sent by PM if you need to reveal or describe something related to the method of solving).

Can you elaborate on this...

Can you resolve the rows and suggest some possible course of action for the new game?

I have no idea what you are looking for, and thus no idea where to begin.

If you like I will help you out by way of pm on this one(depending on whether or not we got the answer right) Razz

The solver grid for Teaser 3 is now updated and finalised. As you may already have guessed that will be the last teaser before the contest proper begins on Friday (or early Saturday in some parts of the world Smile ). An excellent set of puzzles awaits you, and don't forget that there is a prize on offer for the first person to solve the final puzzle (many thanks to JWawro for his generosity in this regard).

Hints and explanations on all of the teasers are available via PM from both JWawro and me.

Must second that sentiment - nice to see what we're getting ourselves into before we start. Hope the module is a resounding success.

stozz is the winner for the Teaser contest, although there is no prize awarded for it. He was the only one to answer Teaser #2 without the hint, so his prize may be that he understands how my brain thinks (at least in regards to the contest)

In any event, thanks to Stretham for updating the Teaser #3 board. Most importantly, a heaping helping of thanks to T22 and to Stretham for help in sorting out the particulars of each puzzle.

Less than 24 hours until it goes live!

Just out of curiosity: are there any codes used in this contest?

They're not specifically excluded, but I think it's fair to say that the contest is not overloaded with them. It should be a pretty enjoyable set of puzzles for you. Smile

Only a few minutes to go.
