Here's a little ditty for memorium
A puzzler of good breeding and decorium
Often found with friends in a praetorium
Conducting weird experiments with thorium
And before anyone else posts here expecting the same, I refer you to my previous post (i.e. someone else can help out). We've got about 150 members now.

Hey guys, did ya'll have an expected time frame for the contest to be completed? Is it being done faster or slower than expected?
just curious... |

We found it very hard to estimate in advance, particularly after PD2 fell in a little over three days - that really shocked us! We had certainly hoped that the contest would take weeks - possibly even months - although we hadn't counted on a giant team of the most experienced riddlers around all collaborating to stay in the lead. We expected it to be more like RP2 with several smaller teams in competition with each other to establish and maintain a lead - which I actually think was much more fun for all concerned, but there you go.
But in answer to your second question, I guess everyone except the giant team is working more or less to the pace we had anticipated. Obviously the first couple of rounds are relatively easy - the tricky ones start in Round Three (as you have already discovered) and there are certainly some puzzles in Rounds Four and Five that I think (hope?!) will hold everyone up for a while.
However, although the contest may officially be completed fairly quickly, it will still run for months for the late-starters who are still joining every day - and they are really the contestants that we hoped to attract to the site... people who are not driven to prove something by winning, but who compete simply for the love of facing challenges, solving puzzles and enjoying themselves - and hopefully learning something in the process, too, so that they are better equipped for more contests in the future.

I actually agree with you on that...but seeing as my entire HTPO team from RP2 has disappeared, I joined up not wanting to work alone (or be left in the dust). |

Couldn't let the arrival of our new user "wolfiesmith" go by without saying "Power To The People"!
(And apologies to the many of you who won't have a clue what I'm on about.)
