We are always happy to test puzzles that people have written - regardless of how few or many there may be.
Also, creating a competition from a compilation of puzzles from various authors sounds like a very good idea.
If you have written some puzzles and would like to include them in such a contest, then contact one of us so we can create a private forum where you can post your puzzles for testing. |

I would imagine that creating puzzles to "fill the gaps" on some contests may involve working backwards from a particular answer in order to maintain the integrity of the metapuzzles at the end.
The admins know who has contributed in the past and have some idea of where their strengths (and weaknesses) lie. How about asking individuals to create a puzzle to fit?
Probably best not to do it on this forum though |

I must say that I find it heartening to hear (particularly in light of the genesis of this situation) that the members of this community are so focussed on creating and contributing something to and for others, rather than destroying and taking away as one person alone has done.
Kudos as always to the admins for all of their hard work and also to fellow puzzlers on PT. The comraderie and friendship of this site thankfully isn't so easily dismantled. _________________ "Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes." -- Jim Carrey |

Well, now we know that the author in question was never really devoted to creating a fun, puzzling community and only made puzzles to inflate his ego.
I would check the legal front, the puzzles are copyrighted to PUZZLETOME, not the author in question.
This is devastating, and i'm extremely annoyed that many contest that I spent YEARS on have been stripped from me.
I am embarrassed for you dude. |

Just a silly question maybe and definitely not an emergency to be solved straight away but...
Some of the permanently removed contests still have a thread on the forum.
Same for the contests which are unavailable at the moment.
In my opinion the first category could be removed from the forum and as for the second, maybe you could offer the option to defer so we can choose to take them off our visible threads?
Again, nothing to be looked at in a hurry, and I really didn't want to dig up more work and hassle
More like a ... suggestion for the future??? |

We're looking at either returning the contests as soon as possible or removing them completely (although there is a third option) and for the permanently deleted contest we will remove those threads (eventually )
But we will will take your comments on board and thank you for providing them. |

Just saw this thread - what a shame! Keep up the good work guys, and thanks for all you do. I was playing Contest I earlier today and now the forum has disappeared - I'm assuming it has to do with this disruption? |

Yes, it is precisely because of the disruption. With a following wind, you should get to see Contest 1 and Contest 2 puzzles again quite soon.

Looks like I found this site just in time to get a good lot of Back to Basics done, but I haven't finished it yet..
Whatever the setters reasons for removing her puzzles, I'd like to say thank you to her for the lessons in BTB. Without it I wouldn't have an idea on how to solve other puzzles. Damn shame though. |

Fear not. We have already started the process of rewriting (and improving) it.
