Breezycollie is the 4th to answer correctly, further crowding the board.
Also, I corrected a scoring error on The Hirsute One's score, now properly awarding the triple-double. |

I'll be 'officially' closing down the teaser "Choose A Side" contest soon, at 22:18 GMT, 36 hours after it was posted. This means that:
1) No more updating the Scrabble board with names after the deadline
2) I'll be able to hint through PMs after the deadline if someone wants help
3) Another teaser puzzle might be on its way |

Teaser Puzzle 2 is now live!
Again, please PM me with your answers. I will construct a different grid for the solvers of Teaser Puzzle 2 (with a different 'break the rules' twist, if needed).
The 36 hour deadline begins....now

And now for the *true* scoring method for the teasers!
Since I can't control the names (how are there so many Zs?), I can at least control how scores are allotted. The first person with the correct answer for each teaser is awarded the top score from all those gathered in that teaser's grid. Second place gets the second score, and so on.

We're past the 24 hour mark, with only one solver, and a few PMs containing remarks of frustration. I certainly hope that this has not turned anyone away from the actual contest
I apologize for this - it's not my intention to make the teasers *that* difficult - I saved those for the contest
Therefore, I will be extending the deadline for Teaser #2 to 48 hours, and I will be giving a hint around the 36 hour mark (Tuesday, February 27 at ~2:30 AM GMT). |

lotjegetikt has notified me of a scoring error for teaser 1 - more appropriately, a better opportunity to play one of the words. This will rearrange the board (as the rest of the plays change as well) for Teaser Puzzle 1, and the scoring accordingly. Updates for both will be posted (as edits to the previous posts).
Thanks, lotjegetikt! |

After applying the corrected, optimal board placements and scoring, the final tally from Teaser 1 is
1. The Hirsute One - 144
2. puzzler2 - 62
3. panama - 13
4. breezycollie - 112
5. hatfielder - 72
6. stozz - 46
7. holloweenie - 38
8. DollyLama - 16
9. bethfay - 22
Note that when a name fell off the board, the decision for placement was first to minimize the number of letters that extended beyond the board, then to maximize score.

OK - giving us more of what is in the puzzle is NOT a hint! How about a REAL hint? Please? Pretty please?

Not that I have cracked it, but I do think JWawro really has given us a hint. |

The rule-bending applied to this board is the wraparound. For instances where the next play required extra room off of the board, the bottom 'connects' to the top, and left 'connects' to right. If this was applied, the lowest number of wraparound letters was considered first, then maximum score.
Teaser 2 Solvers:
1. stozz - 66
2. Robin - 9
3. kloontjeleo - 44
4. breezycollie - 288
5. Trenke - 30
6. lotjegetikt - 50
7. The Hirsute One - 189
8. s10eke - 38
9. bethfay - 36 |
